I'm in Love with a FairytaleI'm in Love with a Fairytale
Free-verse rhythmic poem by Rebecca W.

I opened up our book one day,
just to read our story.
I noticed pages blank in gray,
but I felt nothing short of glory.
I was a lonely mermaid,
who fell in love with a dream.
I could only come to your aid,
as reality took you away from me.
I would sneak into your castle,
just to leave my shoe.
And I would eat that poisoned apple,
if it meant you loved me too.
I do not have a magic carpet,
to sweep you off your feet.
I can only be your loyal pet,

A free-verse poem written by Rebecca E.
I am so reckless.
I cannot think straight.
My thoughts drain my brain like a parched flower, dying in soil that has no nutrients.
My happiness is racing.
I part my lips as fast as the words cross my eyes.
It is a wonder my tongue has not slipped out of my mouth.
I never took a liking to sleep.
The shadows are not friendly, but I make shapes out of them.
I have yet to find the rabbit hole Alice talks about.
My mania easily gets replaced.
Depression starts to fill my thoughts and I start thinking about crazy things.
The long conversations heard only by myself are the only things saving me.
The war of mania and depression rages on.
I cannot let them overlap like this.
Sometimes though, I cannot figure out how to satiate my moods.
Those days are the most dangerous and usually end up with tear stains on my pillow.
The fix to my problems cannot be found at the bottom of a piece of plastic.
If only it were that simple.
